Ministry Grants

Episcopal Community Services (ECS) for the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California is pleased to announce the expansion of Ministry Grants.  The purpose, of these grants, is to provide congregations with start-up or expansion funds for health and social ministry programs.  ECS envisions that all congregations, large and small, have at least one outreach ministry.  ECS is here to help you find answers to challenges that could impede a congregation from beginning an outreach ministry; provide technical assistance in development; provide start-up funds; and provide assistance in sustainability. 

Thanks to the generous contributions to our Ministry Development Campaign, ECS is expanding Grant Projects in three distinct areas of ministry:

1)  Ministry Development Grant: These funds can be used to develop or expand health and social service ministries of local congregations in Northern California.  The congregation must show how the ministry will reach people not ordinarily included in the congregation and how the congregation plans to keep the ministry going after the initial funding.  (Grant size $500-$10,000)

2) Anita Weaver Grant: These funds will go for housing assistance to low income/indigent elderly persons living in the Sacramento area.  These funds may be used to provide grants to individuals or financial assistance to indigent elderly to insure that the elderly are not displaced from existing housing or are not forced to deny themselves basic necessities due to severe financial hardship.  (Grant size $1000-$5000)

3) Bishop Jerry and Jane Lamb Grant: These funds can be utilized to develop or expand health and social service outreach programs that are created and implemented by youth and young adults of the Diocese of Northern California. (Grant size $500-$1,000)
